ADHD Assessment
At Adapted Mind, we offer in-depth, evidence-based assessments for Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) in children, adolescents, and adults. Our goal is to provide a clear understanding of attention, behaviour, and executive functioning, while also identifying any co-occurring emotional or developmental concerns.
Each assessment is led by a registered Clinical Psychologist and combines clinical interviews, standardised rating scales, and multi-informant input (e.g. parents, teachers, and the individual) to ensure a comprehensive and accurate evaluation.
What Does an ADHD Assessment Involve?
The ADHD assessment typically takes 2–3 hours and includes the following components:
- Clinical Interview: A structured conversation with parents (or the adult client) to explore developmental history, presenting concerns, school/work functioning, and any relevant family or medical background. This interview also screens for common co-occurring conditions such as anxiety, depression, and learning difficulties.
- Standardised ADHD Questionnaires: Parents, teachers, and—where appropriate—adolescents complete validated questionnaires assessing attention, hyperactivity, impulsivity, and related behaviours across multiple settings.
- School Input: Teachers are invited to complete structured reports and provide behavioural observations from the classroom to offer a broader picture of the child’s functioning in a learning environment.
- Mental Health & Developmental Screening: Broad psychological and psychiatric screening questionnaires are administered to rule out—or identify—other possible contributing factors (e.g. anxiety, mood disorders, trauma, or autism spectrum characteristics).
Diagnostic Report & Recommendations
- Following the assessment, you will receive a comprehensive diagnostic report that includes:
- A diagnosis (if applicable)
- Summary and interpretation of all assessment data
- Tailored recommendations for support strategies at home, school, or work
- Guidance on next steps, including referral options, behavioural strategies, or accommodations
A feedback session is included to review the results, answer your questions, and ensure clarity on how to move forward with support and intervention.
If you are concerned about ADHD in yourself, your child, or your teenager, our team is here to help. We take a compassionate, strengths-based approach to understanding attention and behaviour, and work closely with families and individuals to support meaningful, practical outcomes.
