Autism Assessment
At Adapted Mind, we provide comprehensive, evidence-based assessments for Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) to support a clear and detailed understanding of your child’s developmental profile. Conducted by a registered Clinical Psychologist, our assessments integrate clinical interviews, direct observation, and input from families and educators to ensure a holistic and accurate evaluation.
What Does an Autism Assessment Involve?
An Autism Assessment typically takes 2–3 hours and includes a clinical interview with parents or caregivers, alongside structured observation of the child. The goal is to understand the child’s developmental history, current behaviour, communication style, and social interactions across settings.Diagnostic tools are used as clinically indicated, based on the referral question and presenting concerns. These tools may include:
Autism Diagnostic Interview - Revised (ADI-R)
- A structured parent interview that explores early developmental history, communication patterns, and social behaviours.
Autism Diagnostic Observation Schedule, Second Edition (ADOS-2)
- A semi-structured, play-based assessment that allows the clinician to observe key areas such as social interaction, communication, and imaginative play.
Childhood Autism Rating Scale, Second Edition (CARS2)
- A standardised observation scale that helps differentiate autism from other developmental conditions, providing quantifiable insights.
These tools are internationally recognised and used in combination with clinical judgement to ensure a thorough and accurate assessment.

A Following the assessment, you will receive a comprehensive diagnostic report that includes:
- A diagnosis (if criteria are met)
